Among the most highly cited scientists, Fredrickson has received recognition for both teaching and research excellence. In 2023, she was honored with Fellow status by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Fredrickson’s free, on-line course on Positive Psychology (available on Coursera) has reached more than 355,000 learners in ~200 countries worldwide.

Sonja Lyubomirsky
Lyubomirsky’s recent research results have gotten a lot of press. The study suggests that if you are an introvert and you force yourself to be an extravert, you’ll be happier. This first-ever study asked people to act like extraverts for a prolonged period. “The findings suggest that changing one’s social behavior is a realizable goal for many people, and that behaving in an extraverted way improves well-being,” said Lyubomirsky.
She is the recipient of the Christopher Peterson Gold Medal, awarded to an IPPA (International Positive Psychology Association) member who exemplifies the best of positive psychology at the personal, professional, and academic levels.
